Pacific Park To Give Special Treats To Ferris Wheel Riding Couples On Valentine’s Day

Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier will this Valentine’s Day treat the first 500 couples with a free red LED Rose and Chocolate Kisses as they board their romantic Ferris wheel ride on Thursday, Feb. 14 from 5:30-9:30 p.m.

To receive the complimentary rose and kisses, couples simply need to purchase a ticket and go to the Pacific Wheel Ferris wheel entrance and notify the attraction’s operator and Pacific Park will provide the complimentary Valentine’s Day package.

The red LED rose is symbolic in light and love for the special day that also features 160,000 LED lights on the Ferris wheel showcasing a special Valentine’s Day program of red and white colors and patterns to celebrate the holiday.

“Valentine’s Day is a unique opportunity to celebrate the first 500 at 5:30 p.m. with a free rose and kisses that will illuminate the couples’ hearts and senses during the ride,” said Jeff Klocke, Vice President of Marketing and Administration at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier. “Recognized as one of the most romantic places in Los Angeles, Pacific Park offers Valentine’s Day guests a vista point of the southern California coastline not found anywhere else in the city.”

Westways magazine and AOL Digital Los Angeles cited Pacific Park’s Ferris wheel as one of Los Angeles’ most romantic spots. And Valentine’s Day couples will agree as they soar to heights of 130 feet above the beautiful Pacific Ocean while enjoying views of Catalina Island, the Palos Verdes Peninsula, Malibu, and Santa Monica Bay.

The nine-story tall Pacific Wheel Ferris wheel first debuted in May 1996 with the opening of Pacific Park and was adapted as the world’s first solar-powered Ferris wheel in November 1998.

The Pacific Wheel features 160,000 energy-efficient LED lights that present dynamic, custom, computer-generated lighting entertainment each evening. The eco-friendly, enhanced LED lighting provides 75 percent greater energy savings than most Ferris wheel’s traditional incandescent bulbs.

Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier, LA’s only admission free amusement park, offers 12 amusement rides, 18 midway games and an oceanfront food plaza.

Culver City Couple Wins Dream Wedding Worth About $100,000

losangeles.cbslocal.com -

CULVER CITY (CBSLA.com) — A Culver City couple is expected to tie the knot on Valentine’s Day in what’s expected to be the ultimate dream wedding valued at nearly $100,000.

Andre Mercier and Sierra Dickens will say “I do” at Citi Pond at Bryant Park in New York City for free … all thanks to TheKnot.com.

Initially, the pair planned to put off their wedding for a-year-and-a-half due to financial concerns but Dickens checked out TheKnot.com and found a “Dream Wedding Sweepstakes.”

The pair made a video and won the wedding giveaway.

The catch?

CBS2′s Joy Benedict reports that the pair has not been able to choose any of the elements of their wedding. In fact, the public has been voting for a different element of their wedding each day.

Thus far, the rings, wedding theme and even Dickens’ dress have been picked.

Dickens was, however, able to narrow down her gown choices to four. She won’t know until the big day which gown the public chose.

“The weight that has been lifted off my shoulders because I don’t have to plan anything is just unbelievable,” Dickens said.

“We knew that we were gonna have to put our faith in the public and the public has definitely come through,” Mercier said.

Currently, the public is voting on Dickens’ hair and make-up. The bridesmaid dresses, cake and entertainment have yet to be chosen as well as the honeymoon — which they hope to turn into a charity trip.

“We would like to turn our honeymoon into a charity trip because we feel like so privileged,” Mercier said.
